I had intended this for a Facebook rant; then realized that even though this event occurred yesterday, that I am still perplexed/frustrated over it.....
A classmate (who is retaking this course) sat down and informed me they had not completed the homework. The homework was given to us 5 days ago, and was quite simple. TO READ A FRIGGIN CHAPTER. Just one chapter. Just reading. No outline necessary or questions to accompany the reading. Yet they somehow didn't manage to complete it. I could only grin and say "Really? It wasn't that bad." Inside I had so many other replies in mind. Ranging from the docile, "This is probably why you failed last semester." to the more raging, "Are you kidding me? I worked 45 hours last week, went to school for 18 hours, have a daily hour commute, had two papers to write, completed reading for all 7 of my courses, kept my house somewhat decent, and managed to get a little bit of sleep. This is my life until May. And you who live on campus, are 18 and don't have nearly as much responsibility; couldn't complete your homework?!!?"
Now I realize I don't know this person or what they have going on; however they chose to play on their phone instead of taking notes during the lecture. The professor does not provide notes or slides on Blackboard. Maybe the new norm for attending college should be to grow up a little and get your life together, then make an informed decision. I think 10 years ago that could have been me, almost. I would never be ballsy enough to have my phone out while the professor lectures, that is just plain rude. But I would probably be breezing my way through college, not focusing on my GPA or really even the class work. It's sad for me when I see these kids whose parents can afford to support them through college, just take advantage of what others would bust their butts for. I'm not saying all college students are like this, most who are don't make it past two semesters. But still, they can't appreciate the possibilities they have in front of them. There is no drive, no desire.
Alright end of my rant. I have homework to do!!

A Slightly Dramatic Post
I will be 29 in a little over a month. The last year of my twenties. I can remember as a little kid thinking of how old 30 was. Now I am torn between feeling young and starting to become a real adult. I have owned my own home for almost 9 years, I married too young to legally drink at my wedding, I have had a job of some sort since I was 14 or 15; but THIS is what makes me feel like I am almost an adult. That and the day I have had. Reading in my math book and I came across this sentence: "Have you done any of the following today: sent a text message, spent time on Facebook, browsed the Internet, checked your email, listened to your iPod, talked on your cell phone, or gotten directions from a GPS device?" Then I thought to myself how different it is than anything that would have been in my text books back when I was in school. Not to mention today I arrived to one of my classes early, and by the time the class was over I had been sitting for so long that I felt stiff when I got up from my desk. In another class I outed myself as older twice. The first incident was when the professor noticed I and another student shared the same first name. I commented that I was use to it because back in the 80's my name was very popular. Everyone in the class looked at me funny, none of them had been alive in the 80's. Then we were discussing operating systems and the professor asked if anyone remembered Vista, I laughed and commented that I could remember Windows 95. They looked at me again, thank God I didn't mention the computer we had when I was a kid, it required floppy disks to even run a program. In my biology lab, I was relieved when I saw a man with graying hair; then got sad when I realized I'd probably have more in common with him than anyone else in the room.
Alright, well I better get back to math since I was actually in the middle of homework and had this ridiculous revelation. It's probably more to do with my over work and under slept mind that has caused me to think all this is a bigger deal than it really is. But still. They are so young looking, like little kids. I get terrified just realizing they are parking near my vehicle and have only been driving for like a year or two. Alright, really end of rant.

PSYCHcess!
So as I have previously mentioned, I attempted a psychology class that is one of the core class for my degree last semester, with no luck. Just to recap I ended up dropping the class after the first meeting, because the professor was incompetent and a little out there. I registered with another professor this semester while there were still multiple options. And after today's first class I am so happy with the choice I made. Yay! No horrible psychology professor that could potential have jeopardized my 4.0 GPA. Cause yeah that is what I'm rocking right now. And the higher my GPA, the easier it will be for me to get into my program when I apply in during the Spring 2016 semester. YAY!

It's A Wonderful Break
So I have been MIA since November, with good reason. Christmas season started for our store, meaning more and more orders. There was finals week, and then the holiday festivities that happen when you come from a large family and marry someone with a large family.
I can happily say that I currently have a 4.0 GPA; but can unhappily say that due to the requirements of the program I am applying for next year that I will be taking 18 credit hours this semester. Woot woot. I will be attempting to take psych 200 again, and here is to hoping that this professor won't be insane and cause me to drop the class after one day. I'm also taking a music class and picked up the book today, the book was written by a professor at my university; luckily not the professor that will be teaching the class. Let's face it, a professor that assigns the book he wrote will come off a bit pretentious.
I'm also taking another math class, but no lab, so none of the hassles I faced last semester. Biology should be interesting since I hate science, but my degree has science in the name so I'm pretty much screwed. English will be english, which was always one of my favorite subjects.
I'm not really worried about the classes, but more the class load. And then there is trying to find a lab partner. And trying to run a house and store full time. Luckily I'll be too busy to care once it all starts next week. But until then about every 5 minutes I have a mini freak out. Especially if I see my backpack and now the stack of books.
Our store will be a vendor at the local comic con and several festivals during this spring semester, so I have already started prepping and planning for those however I can. The one major blessing this semester for me is that most of my professors are men, and I've always felt I do better with a male teacher than a female. I'm not trying to be sexist, I just get along better with men.
Today the struggle was real for me, I bought the few supplies I needed after purchasing my books. And debated for several minutes with myself if I should go for the cheaper organization option or purchase Hello Kitty folders for all my classes. Then realizing that I am a grown ass woman almost in her thirties and should not walk around with Hello Kitty folders, I decided to skip them and go for the more adult decision. Besides I was given the cutest Hello Kitty sunglasses for Christmas, so that will already take me down a notch as far as my maturity is concerned. I also decided to use my somewhat spare time and put up Valentine's Day decorations in my house, yes I decorate for what the cynical call a Hallmark holiday. However my husband is the only Valentine I have ever or will ever have, so I freaking love February 14th. I can almost guarantee that even though it's just a few things, they will be up until the end of March and I have a chance during my spring break to take them down.
